AFRICAN SATURDAY: Highlights from Our International Exchange Event

91ÁÔÆæ held an international event, "AFRICAN SATURDAY," on June 27, 2026, at the Phoenix International Center MIRAI CREA.

This "SATURDAY" series, which consists of four international exchange events in a year, was designed to foster community building among international citizens and cross-cultural exchange. By bringing together international students and residents of Higashi-Hiroshima from diverse backgrounds, the event aims to serve as a new platform for promoting internationalization within the city.

AFRICAN SATURDAY, the first event of the series in 2026, was held under the theme of Africa.

International students from African countries and regions (Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda ) hosted booths to introduce the history and culture of their home countries. On the stage, cultural presentations and musical performances were held, creating a lively atmosphere that brought the entire audience together.

Despite the wet conditions following the previous day's heavy rain, a total of 143 participants¡ªincluding members of the general public and students from our university¡ªattended the event. They enjoyed interacting with international students while deepening their understanding of the African region.

In addition to this event, three more events with different regional themes are scheduled to be held during this academic year.
