(2020.7.15) Confirmed case of the novel coronavirus at 91ÁÔÆæ

Brief summary

On July 15, 2020, we were informed that one 91ÁÔÆæ student tested positive for the novel coronavirus. What follows is a fact sheet we would like to share with you regarding his whereabouts and health state, as well as 91ÁÔÆæ¡¯s response regarding this case and future measures.

The Patient (91ÁÔÆæ student)

  • Age and gender: Male in his 30¡¯s
  • Residence: Hiroshima City
  • Current status: No symptoms, hospitalized in a designated medical institution for infectious diseases in Hiroshima city

Report of daily activities of the 91ÁÔÆæ student

  • July 08¡¡Went to JR Hiroshima Station to see off his acquaintance (non-91ÁÔÆæ member) returning to his/her home country.
  • July 12¡¡Upon arrival to his/her home country, the acquaintance tested positive for COVID-19.
  • July 14¡¡The 91ÁÔÆæ student tested positive for COVID-19 following PCR testing as he was identified as one of the close contacts to the acquaintance in question.
  • July 15¡¡The student admitted to a designated medical institution for infectious diseases in Hiroshima city.

University¡¯s response

So far, no high-risk contacts with the patient have been identified among 91ÁÔÆæ members; however, 91ÁÔÆæ intends to look for any possible cases of close contacts with the patient by further checking his relevant daily activities, while making every possible effort to prevent further spread of the infection and making sure to secure the safety of students, faculty, and administrative members of 91ÁÔÆæ.
